About the Event
The Gondwana forests of Krushka's that wrap around the Blue Derby Mountain Bike Trails are rich with rainforest tree fern glades, the tallest flowering plant in the world - the Eucaluptus regnan - and habitat rich mixed forests that are home to Tasmanian Devils, Spotted tail quolls and our local Wedge tail eagle population.
Blue Derby Wild has managed to halt logging in these forests over 2021, and now government business enterprise Sustainable Timbers Tasmania plans to log them in February, when they think the tourists have left and the school holidays are over.
Join us for a guided walk through the tree fern glades and tall diverse forests that are home to Tasmania's unique wildlife and biodiversity. The walk will be led by local campaigners and conservation and wildlife biologists who will help you explore and connect to the irreplacable Gondwana forest heritage of these forests.Â
To enjoy your time in the forest make sure you are prepared, wear sturdy walking shoes, appropriate clothing and bring any food/water you may need over the period. Don't forget to bring your camera and energy to help protect these iconic forests, they are worth more standing.
